Today we celebrated Rhett's 8th birthday on the 8th. And of course I cried and when Rhett asked me why I was crying, I said you know. He said, "Yep, I do. It's because I am getting so big." He really does understand all the little things. I could go on and on about him. He's just so smart. Even when he doesn't understand something, like his homework, he's very patient and does his best to learn it quickly. J teaches him how to do boy things but also how to be charming and have manners. He's very polite and loves to hold the doors open for people especially me. I love being able to have conversations with him. I love when he tells me all about Jesus and things he learns in church. I love how he wants to say family prayers then say his own by himself. I love he loves to have family dinners. I really LOVE all his questions..which is why he learns so much. He has the desire to know so many things. I love how he plays soccer and how much he loves to play. I love his example for others especially his sisters. He's always willing to help teach them or help them clean up their messes without complaining. I love how he counts his money and always wants to put some aside for his tithing piggy. I love how much he loves to do his reading every night. When he starts to read his books out loud, the girls go snuggle up to him and listen to the story. I am just so proud of our little guy!
Last night I stayed up to decorate the house with banners, crepe paper, and signs. When he woke up, he was sooo excited to see all the decorations and that the Birthday Fairy came. He came running into my room at 7am to show me. Then gave me a huge hug.
After Ry got home from school, we took treats to Rhett's class for his birthday. His class was so excited to sing their version of "Happy Birthday" and get yummy cherry chocolate cookies. After Rhett got home, we decided to take him and the kids to Chuck E Cheese. We had found a cup of tokens from last year and they gave him 20 free ones for his birthday. He was totally into all the games...while the girls mostly just wanted to ride all the rides.
After our tokens were gone, we counted up all our tickets. We combined them with the ones from last year...a whopping 3800. All the kids were able to get a prize and a bag of cotton candy, and we didn't have to spend one cent!
After we ate dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Rhett. He was excited to finally get some pie for dessert. But I think Kenna was the most excited to sing!
Yay, I'm so glad he got to go to Chuck E Cheese like he wanted too! Looks like a super fun time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great birthday. You're such a good mom Dalynne. I really look up to how you raise your kids. That pic of Rhett shooting the gun with an eye closed made me laugh. Also the video of Kenna. I heart your family! Happy Birthday Rhett!
