America's Favorite Pastime

Rhett started baseball a few weeks ago and he's done pretty well. He has good stance for hitting, he can hit the ball pretty far, and he can throw and catch the ball; yes, he has the basics down. Unfortunately, he said it's too boring and he likes soccer better because he can move around a lot more. It also doesn't help that his coach is a die-hard baseball coach/fan and takes it pretty seriously...which is kinda hard for these kids who are just playing for fun.
We like to give Rhett the variety of different sports, but ultimately it has to be his decision. So this will probably be his last season for baseball, yet we still have fun going to his games and cheering him on. Even Ry gets into it. It sure reminds me of the good ol' days when our family would go cheer on the Rainbows in South Carolina and also cheer on our brother, Aaron, at his baseball games while we ate boiled peanuts. Good times!

Ry loves cheering Rhett on; when he hits the ball, she yells "run, run, run...a little faster!"

Graduation (a.k.a. End of Year Program)

Last Thursday Ry's preschool had graduation/end of year program. It was sooo cute to see how much these kids had learned in 9 months. They recited their zoo phonics alphabet, sang the songs they learned, recited the "Pledge of Allegiance", and ended with a slide show of the year. It turned out so well and I am just taken aback that Ry is already 4. It makes me wonder where the time has gone. I never thought she'd get the concept of school, but she ended up doing so well. She knows all her letters, sounds, numbers, learned all her songs, the "Pledge of Allegiance", and how to write her name. My favorite part of graduation was when they all got a turn to say in the microphone, "When I grow up, I want to be..." And of course all the kids had the normal response: fireman, princess, policeman, cowboy...until Ry gets up for her turn. Her response, "I want to be a sun!" Only my sweet girl would want the world to revolve around her. Have no idea where she gets it!
After the program Ry and her friends had a small photo-shoot and they each got a picture of themselves and a bag of goodies from their teacher. When we got home Ry again said the funniest thing, "Now that I'm done with school, I need to get a job!" Wow, she just says the most random things. It's one of the many reasons why we love her!

Such a hot event, even the paparazzi showed up

Lunch Bunch

This is only our 2nd month of doing it, but it seems to be a great success. This month it was my turn to host. It's been nice to have great friends who love to spend time together. A chance to eat delicious food, let the kiddos play, and catch up with each other. Thanks to Liz for teaching me about cute decor. And thanks to the girls for coming to play!

Easter Trails

Easter weekend was a busy and packed time. The Saturday before I did the first lawn mow of the season. It took about 2 1/2 hours cause the grass was so long and wet. After I mowed the lawn I came in to make dinner, boil eggs, make jiggler eggs for dinner the next day, and start the dough for the cookies. The kiddos had a lot of fun making sure the Easter bunny didn't feel left out, by making him cookies and leaving them out like Santa. (unfortunately, the cookies were horrible and I had to throw the 8 lb. mess in the garbage) Then we dyed eggs and got ready for bed.
On Sunday we got up super early for church and the kiddos got dressed in their pretty dresses and tie. They looked so cute. Too bad everyone's kids at church were fed candy before, cause Primary was insane! After a hectic church block, we came home and the kiddos found their Easter baskets and played with their new toys. When J got home from work, we went up to Aaron and Cystal's for dinner and the annual candy hunt. I have to say for their dinner idea, a crockpot potluck which I thought would turn out a little weird, it was soooo good! I brought spicy chicken w/ rice, Aaron had a roast w/ veggies, Kyle brought ham and funeral potatoes, Mom brought yummy rolls and ice cream cones, and Dawn brought a delicious eclair cake. We had our "hunt" with the picking of toys after which, of course, was mayhem. Even though it's so hard not having the whole family here for holidays, all in all the day was great and we had a lot of fun.
