Scout Camp

Today was the annual Scout Day Camp for the Wolves and Bears at Camp Kiesel (up by Cozzy Dam). I was sooo glad that Justin was able to take the day off to participate with Rhett. He drove and had John Hanks be his companion for the drive...along with Rhett. I have to admit I was a bit jealous when I saw the pics; it was super pretty up there.

Archery

BB Gun Range

Making Homemade Badges

Canoeing (J wasn't able to get the pics yet from being on the water. Hopefully we'll get them soon. But the boys didn't want to stay dry. As soon as they got back on the beach, they ran and jumped into the water)

All in all, a great day was had by the boys. Rhett earned 2 belt loops for Archery and BB Guns. They came home tired and a bit red from the sun, but I know they had a super fun father-son day.

Oh, What A Blessing

Yup...the day came. It's already been 6 weeks since little Kodee came into our lives and today we had her blessing. It's truly amazing how fast these past weeks have flown by and how much she is growing.
I started the morning at 630am...pumped, fed Kodee, showered, fixed hair, dressed and braided the older 2 girl's hair, bathed Kodee and got her dressed, ate a bowl of cereal, got things ready for luncheon, pumped again, fed Kodee again, got dressed, and got to the church 10 min early. When we sat down, it felt as though I had gone through a whole day already.

Poor Justin was so nervous he was sick and throwing up all morning. I guess he had anxiety, but he did a great job. Jason had to stay at his ward for bishopric and Kyle had to work. We had Justin, Dad, Aaron, Bishop Elmore, and Justin's good friends in the ward Ryan Newbold, Derek Howells, and Paul Jacobson in the circle to bless Kodee. Sadly Grandma and Grandpa didn't make it.
Justin gave her official name for the records of the church and blessed she would be given all the wonderful blessings the Lord has in store for her. To be able to listen and learn from her parents, brother, sisters, and church leaders. To choose to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. Also to meet a man who would love and cherish her and take her to the temple to be married and start her own family. It was a sweet blessing and she slept peacefully through the whole thing.

After sacrament meeting, we went home to change and then headed to the park by our house to eat lunch. Surprisingly, for June, it was super cold with the wind. Justin went back and forth to our house to get the things we kept forgetting...jackets, diapers, bib. Tanner lost Dawn's keys so she, Dad, and Justin stayed at the church to find them. They were finally found an hour later...in the boy's bathroom! When everyone finally got together, we moved a table into the sun to warm up and ate lunch. It ended up getting so warm, we all got a little color; I got burnt on the face and arms. The kids had so much fun playing on the toys...

...While the adults sat around and did our favorite 2 things...eat and talk!!!

It was a wonderful and calm day. Thank you to our family and friends for all the love and support you offer us!

Last Day Of School

Oh man...I can hardly believe it. The school year started when I was first preggers and we have since had our little Kodee and the school year has ended. In the blink of an eye.
This year Rhett has grown up a lot. He had a big growth spurt and grew 2 shoe sizes, he learned how to read a lot better, learned fractions and re-grouping in Math, learned how to spell big words, writing longer words, loves to plan and give Family Home Evening lessons, loves to read his scriptures, has a testimony of church, fixes his own breakfast, and just loves to be boss and help me when J is working. And since we have Kodee now, he helps out in a BIG way. He even got glasses this year; after a month of squinting and getting up every 5 minutes to read the board at school. I felt so bad he waited so long to tell us.
Rhett had a lot of fun activities this last part of school...a field trip to "This Is The Place Heritage Park", a field trip to the park by his school to meet his pen pals from Lakeside Elementary (where he lost his glasses. Luckily someone turned them in and we were able to pick them up), Bend the Rules Day (he wore flip flops and ate treats in class), field day (where they played games outside and played in the water), end of year Patriotic Program, and today was their yearbook autograph party.
Each day, little by little, they cleaned out their desks and classrooms and he brought home all that he worked on during the year. I couldn't believe they had worked on so many things. To name a select few: Chunk Words, Song Book, Math Book, Spelling Book, Handwriting Book, and his A+ Portfolio binder that had all his best work in it. His teachers also made every student a class DVD of the year. Rhett brought home his grades which he scored perfect 3's in every category and an award for Boy Best Speller in his class. He is also a great reader...in 2nd grade they need to read 90 words a min. He reads 137 WPM on a 2nd grade level and 86 WPM on a 4th grade level! He won the Most Creative Award in Science for his group's Egg Drop Project. He also earned 20 builder tickets this school year when in 1st grade, he only earned two!
He worked really hard this year. Everyday he came home, he did his homework right away. Then he would read his 20 min. Whenever he had a project, he always took the time to finish them instead of waiting until the last min. He only missed 4 days of school the whole year, and only 1 tardy (due to a dentist appointment.) He loved spelling so much, he got put on the advanced list of spelling words/testing in his class...and I think he aced every test minus 1. He did have a few problems with his fighting and keeping focused, but he always tried to find new ways to correct the problem, which he did. I know I am bragging just a bit, but I hope when Rhett reads back on this, he'll realize that hard work and studying really does pay off.
But on the other hand, he is really looking forward to having a few months off for summer. They don't go back to school until September 4! So we have plenty of time for summer activities. A few things we can look forward to is Scout Day Camp, Harmons Lagoon Day, Hogle Zoo, our annual camping reunion and Mom's Back to School party at the Aquatic Center. I also know they are excited for no homework, no early bedtimes, and no getting up early to catch the bus...but more so for my benefit than theirs!!!

So proud of our little man and his accomplishments!
