Bowling For Fun

A couple weeks ago, Mandee and the girls were able to sneak another trip down to Utah while Craig had a work trip in Idaho. We have been so spoiled being able to see so much of them this year.
On Fri the 10th, we went to Fat Cats in Ogden. They have a summer special that M-F from 11-6pm, all attractions are $.99, including food. It was the perfect choice, and all the kids had so much fun!
We started out by letting the kids play on the jungle gym.

*Trevan, Ry, and Jaycee*

We then rented our shoes, ordered some snacks, and started to bowl....though with that many kids bowling, it took a couple hours to play one game!

*Kaitlynn, Kortnee, Trevan, Jaycee, Mandee, Dawn, Tanner, Jace, Bryson, Rhett, Amos, and Wyatt*

After we bowled, we decided to walk next door to Deseret Book. It was very relaxing to be in a quiet spot and listen to soft music. Me and J got some new garments, I checked out temple dresses, and we stayed and talked to Mom and Dad while our kiddos looked at books...too bad Ry found a dot-to-dot book that she just had to write in. Though we were proud she knew how to count and fill it in right, we told her we aren't supposed to do that unless we pay for it; so she tried to hide it in the bookcase...she immediately got a good lesson about honesty.
While we were in the store, the heavens opened! It was a much needed shower. We hurried and ran to our cars and headed up to Amos and Kyle's to eat dinner and "play games." The kiddos had so much fun playing with their cousins. While Kyle scented his house with fresh canned salsa, we ate pizza and our "game playing" turned into talking! I guess that's what happens when sisters get together.
It was a fantastic laid-back day and I was so happy to chalk up another fun time with my family. Thanks everyone!!!

PBC

I am so in love with this girl!!!
She pulled this face one day. When I asked her why she was doing that, she replied, "I'm being you Mom!" She does that often now, especially when she's getting in trouble.

Lately, she just loves showing us different expressions.

And while she loves to go off on her own and be independent...

...she sure loves being with her sister too!

She does some of the cutest things we have grown to love...
*Everytime she gets out of the bath, she stands in the hall and waves while yelling, "HI MOM!"
*When it's time for bed, J will carry her to her room as she pretends to sleep.
*When she's in bed, she'll never let us shut her door all the way. Everytime we announce its bedtime she says, "Do Not Shut My Door. I Mean It!" as she points her finger at us.
*While we were at Costco, she was riding on J's shoulders.

They went to check a price on Go-gurt, while me and the other kiddos were getting some other things on our list. When her and J got in front of the Go-gurt, he stopped. She then said, "So Dad, is it pricey?"
*The second J walks thru the door after work, she runs up to him and asks to look at pictures on his phone. She'll spend hours sliding her finger from picture to picture. She gets very annoyed when she tries to do it on my phone since my phone is not hi-tech and it doesn't have a touch screen.
*The other day she got some treats for going no 2. in the potty. After she ate them, she came up to me and asked, "Where's my treat?" I told her, "They are in your belly because you already ate them." She then proceeds to lift up her shirt, look at her belly, and said, "Why are they in there? Come out, come out. I want to eat you!"
*She is obsessed with shoes, everyone's shoes. Whether it be shoes, flips, boots, or slippers, she'll put a pair on and keep them on all day. She'll even make up shoes...like in this pic. This is her "ice-skating" with her "ice-skates." (She used her toy aluminum plates from her kitchen set)

*She loves to watch movies. The other day she said, "I want to watch Spy Kids. Is it a good show?" Before I could respond, she said, "Yeah, it's a good show."
*Toy Story is one of her favorite movies. She'll say, "Uh-huh, oh yeeeah! It's Woody time!" And if I don't sit right down, she says, "Hurry! You're missing it!"
*She loves eating Poptarts. But it's even cuter when she asks for them, "Mom, can I have a Tophart?"
Shoot this girl is so stinkin funny. While she can be girly at times, she is mostly laid back, drama-free, and tough as nails. And while she can be sooo stubborn and too independent, she makes up for it with her cute personality and antics. I can't get enough her. But really, how can you not love a girl with a smile like this...

Camping 2012

This past weekend was our annual Anderton Family Reunion camping trip to Mantua...and our only camping trip we take all summer. I was half excited to go but half not because I was not looking forward to pumping at camp.
We started out Thursday by loading the truck and heading to Mom's school to fill our coolers with ice. Then we headed up to camp. We got there about 4pm, and yes Kyle and Amos had already set their tent and supplies up, and Grandpa and Grandma were already sitting and enjoying the fire.

Our tent wasn't big enough for our family, so thankfully Mom and Dad let us borrow theirs. We hurried to get our tent and supplies set up and then turned to help everyone else so we could get our dinners on the fire.

As we were unloading our things and started to set up our beds in the tent, we noticed that we forgot an essential item...the Pak-n-Play for Kodee! We kept trying to think of different things we could do. Go home and grab ours, buy a new one, borrow Amos' (but I didn't want Oakers to be without a bed), have someone bring up an extra one, make her a bed on the ground...it seemed all the ideas weren't quite working out so well. Finally, Amos and Kyle came up with using one of our totes! Genius! I was happy Kodes was small enough to fit and it worked out so well.

This year, Rhett needed to pass off a requirement for Scouts...help prepare and cook a dinner outside. So he helped me make and cook our Hobo dinners in the fire. He felt so proud and they were so yummy.

After dinner, we celebrated Mom and Aaron's bday with a cake Dawn bought from Costco...and it was sooo yummy!

That night Kodee didn't want to sleep. She kept crying and crying and crying. I felt so bad I was keeping everyone awake. I didn't know if she was just upset about a new bed, or being in a new place, or because she had thrush. But I couldn't get her to calm down. I decided to give her some more of her medicine and asked J to give her a blessing of comfort. As soon as he was finished with the blessing, her heartbeat returned to normal, she quieted right down, and fell fast asleep for the remainder of the night. I am always amazed at the powers of the Priesthood and so thankful to J for his dedication to the Gospel.
On Friday, it was a laid back day...at first. In the early afternoon, me and J got kinda bored. So we took the kiddos on a long walk around the camp. They loved being able to "explore" and find firewood. And I was happy to walk around in the sunshine.

It seemed the quiet day needed to be interrupted...by my daughter screaming bloody-murder. She had followed J and Kenna to the bathroom while I was pumping. As she waited for them to finish, she decided to climb a tree. And she fell off! Her arm ballooned right up. I for sure knew it was broke because she has bony little arms.

We called our insurance to find which clinic to take her to in Brigham City and headed down.
When we finally got in, the Dr. took one look and said, "Yup, it's broke. Let's get an x-ray and see how far up the arm we need to cast." We waited about 45 min to get into x-ray. We all started to walk in but then the radiologist asked me if I was preggers. I said I wasn't. He then asked if I was nursing and I said yes. So he gave me a weird look and said, "It's best for your milk if you stay outside!" I don't know why, but it made me laugh out loud. While I waited in the hallway, I got a phone call from Dawn asking me directions to the clinic. Trevan had fallen into the dry river bed on a rock and split open his head.

When we got back into the Dr. office to go over her x-rays, he said she was a miracle child. In all his years, he's never seen an arm be that out of whack and NOT be broken...no sprain or fractures. She then said, "It's because my bones are strong because I drink so much milk!" I knew there was a reason for pumping that into their bodies. Ry also had a sliver in her hand that had gotten infected. The Dr. said we had to wait till it started to puss up before we could help pop it out. Surprisingly, Ry said her sliver hurt more than her arm. As we were leaving, I told the Dr. to keep an eye out for our nephew. All the nurses laughed and said, "We're here all day tomorrow too in case anything else happens." As we were leaving, we passed Dawn and Trevan as he headed in to get 3 stitches.
When we got back to camp, Ry fell over a pile of rocks. She broke her fall with her hand, which helped her sliver to puss up. Uncle Mike decided it was time to dig it out. He held Ry tightly and covered her ears because she was screaming and crying louder than I had ever heard. Luckily, it didn't take much to pop out the sliver and thanks to Uncle Mike for being patient in holding her down and listening to her.
After that drama I was ready to call it quits for the day. But we ate our delish turkey meal Kyle had prepared and we sat around the fire roasting marshmallows and playing a get-to-know-you game with our family.
On Saturday, we found out we would have to leave that night because there was drama that happened at J's work. His manager had gotten moved to another store and he was really bummed because they got along so well. Since we knew it was our last day, we did our best to make it count. But sadly, I waited about 12 hrs to pump so I was in the truck pumping for 2 hours while everyone enjoyed singing Happy Birthday to Grandpa, crafts, horseshoes, and a water gun fight. I guess one positive note...I was staying cool in the air-conditioned truck!
Finally after I was done pumping, we started our dutch oven dinners and desserts for the Potluck dinner. While the food cooked some of us played cards while J and Rhett had some boy time to "explore" some more. It was then time to take our potluck dishes down to dinner (we made Peach Cobbler.) After dinner, it was time for the auction. As we waited for it to start, I was holding Kylee and Kodee. First it was cute watching Kylee play with Kodee's hair.

But it quickly turned into Kylee pulling and eating her hair. I'm thinking maybe Kylee was jealous of all that hair, LOL!

Even through all the drama of the last couple days and Kodee having thrush, the girls still loved being at camp. We all had so much fun.

And I think Kodee loved it so much more because she was constantly held by everyone around her or being carried by me and J.

After the auction, it was time for us to leave. I was seriously so sad especially with how much fun everyone seemed to be having.

The next morning J got a call saying he didn't have to go into work. But then a couple hours after that, he got a call from the High Council about a calling...Elders Quorum 2nd counselor. I guess we were supposed to leave early and be home.
This summer hasn't been filled with a ton. And it's been hard not having the funds to do Lagoon with my family or the trip to Washington. So though it was quite the weekend, I was so glad to add some fun memories from this summer with my family.

Expert???....Yup!

Well I had to do a shout-out post about my wonderful hubby. I am so in awe how good at his job he is. Most people may think working in produce is easy...putting out new fruits and veggies and keeping it full. So not true, at least not at Harmons and not when my hubby is in charge. They pride themselves in being the best and freshest produce around. Not to mention the classes, certifications, rotating the food, handling the bills and budget of the department, managing the employees of the department, working long hours with no overtime pay, inventory once a month, studying and knowing about each product he carries in his department, knowing better basics of food and how to keep them sanitary and safe...the list is sooo long.
One of the things J gets to participate in every year is the avocado contest where he gets to be creative in designing a display to showcase them for Super Bowl season.

The potato display contest is a national contest for all the grocery stores in America. I am so happy to announce that for 3 years in a row, J is the only one in all the Harmons stores to get an award...Honorable Mention, in which they only award 100, in the whole nation! He won $100 and bragging rights. Yes, I think that's quite the feat.
*Mater, from Cars*

Another service Harmons offers in the summer is...

...and J is in the top 3 sellers in all the stores!

This year is Harmons 80th Birthday celebration!

In honor of the special year, each employee had the opportunity to certify to be an "expert." They had to take special classes and test about each department in the store. If they passed, they were able get a certificate and shirt. Alot of employees didn't try, and some didn't pass. And yes, I'm happy to say my hubby is one smart cookie!

So yes, I did a brag session because J never would. But as you can see, there is so much that goes into being a Produce Manager at Harmons. To him it's not just a job; J puts so much effort to not only provide for his family, but to know the ins and out, the behind the scenes, to be the best, and put pride in his job. He's so good at it and I'm SOOO proud of him. Love you babe!!!!
