In Need of Enrichment

Last night was so nice to finally go to Enrichment Night. It's been 2 years since I've been able to go. We did a provident living night. My friend shared how to make bread from scratch, using her bosch or in case of dire circumstances by hand. She was amazing to listen to and totally funny. She should have her own show. She had great ideas how to make bread easier and also where you can buy a huge bag of wheat in ogden for cheap. Glad she shared her knowledge with us. And remember ladies...Vegetable oil is not your friend!!!
Then we had another sister share how to recylce what you already have....like t-shirts into pillows, necklaces, backpacks, and quilts. Old jeans into denim skirts. And how to cook yummy food using wheat....like brownies, choc. chip cookies, and cornbread (cause when you buy and grind a ton of wheat theres only so much bread you want to make) And also how to cook foods from using strictly food storage like chili (canned hamb, beans, and corn) and a smoothie drink. She had a ton of great ideas. It's not just about budgeting and saving money, but using provident living for your mental and physical health, service towards others, storage, etc. It's all on the lds.org website. Very interesting.
All the sisters who came brought things that were homemade to share. We had so much food. We had breads made from scratch (banana-is what I brought which turned out great using Mom's recipe-white, wheat, coconut, choc. chip), we had homemade jams and jellies, salsa and chips, and we even had one sister who brought homemade pretzels. Then everyone who had a garden brought extra produce they wouldn't use to let others take what they need. We had a huge table. And it smealt so good. I was able to get spagetti squash, zucchini squash, yellow squash, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and even onions.
At the end, they gave everyone a packet of seeds to symbolize even planting one seed can build a garden of friends. And as we nurture our garden of friends by getting together and visiting (like at enrichment night and visiting teaching), and doing service, and weeding out the bad problems we can all have an abundance to share. It was a great night with a great turnout.
After we ended the boys came to help clean up cause it was time for their basketball game. Justin decided to come and play and he even convinced our non-member neighbor to go with him. Not for the purpose of preaching to him, but just to show that we can be more than neighbors and without the pressure of converting him. He's the pastor of his own church and they are just wonderful people. They had a lot of fun and have even agreed to go next week. It was just a fun night with much needed upliftment!
