It's Great To Be 8!

So yes the day finally came. I swear it was just yesterday we were at our cousin's baptism when Rhett was just born and I made a comment about Rhett being baptized. J then commented back, "Yeah, but that's a while away." Well that while away sure snuck up pretty fast.
On Saturday the 3rd, Rhett was baptized. I started the day really early to get my chili working. Then I hurried and hopped in the shower, threw some hot curlers in my hair, and got to work on my list. Cut Rhett's hair, got the girls ready, cut J's hair when he hurried home from work, checked on my chili, and getting to the stake center 10 min early.
During the talks, I just stared over and J and Rhett and couldn't believe it was really happening. I still get teary-eyed thinking about it. After the great talks, we went back to the font where Ashley and Bryonna got baptized first. Then it was Rhetts turn... the moment was here. I saw him hold J's arm (super scared) and just beamed at my hubby being able to hold this wonderful priesthood and baptize his son. I just had tears running down my face.
While we waited for everyone to get dressed, we were able to write little letters to those being baptized. When they got to the primary room, we were able to see them all receive the Holy Ghost. I mean its such a special thing, but when its your own child it seems to mean a little more.
After we got home, we had everyone over for soups, desserts, and rolls. It was just a relaxing afternoon, talking and hanging out with everyone we love (well almost everyone.) After everyone left, we gave Rhett his scriptures. I have never seen anyone relish in reading so much. He spent 5 hours reading, reading, and reading. He only took a break to eat dinner and fill out his baptism book. I even checked on him after he went to bed and he was still reading. I told him it was ok to take a break to sleep. He just said, "Mom, I just cant help it. I love them."
I am just one proud momma! It was a great weekend and though its been hard letting him go and grow up, I just love the choices he's making.
(P.S. thanks everyone for the sweet baptism gifts. It means so much to have your support)

  1. I realized that I hadn't read about Rhett's baptism. What a special day and reading made me teary eyed that I missed it but also because what a wonderful thing to see my nephew CHOOSE to be baptized and have it mean so much to him. I sure love Rhett and super proud of your hubby. Thanks for the pics!
