Today was St. Patrick's Day. True to form, Rhett devised his traps to try to catch a leprechaun. With the one on the right, he made it so when the leprechaun walks across the part in the middle to get the coins at the end...it's a false floor so he'll fall in.
But the kiddos went to bed late last night, so the leprechaun didn't come....yet. We woke up and got ready for church. They all looked cute in their green outfits.
For dinner we had grilled steak, green jello, green peas, and green colored garlic potatoes. (Sadly, sweet Kenna has deleted my pics of dinner.)
After dinner, we went over to the Checketts for Home Evening.
Annie planned it around Missionary Work and being a good example to our member and non-member friends.
We started by everyone picking their favorite Primary song and we all sang them.
Kenna picked: I Love To See The Temple
Rhett picked: I Am A Child Of God
Ry picked: Chapel Doors
Bryonna picked: All Things Bright and Beautiful
Brooklynn picked: Give Said The Little Stream
Then Annie read the story "Chad and Andre" from the April 2013 Friend. Then she asked the kids how we can be like Chad and be examples to our member and non-member friends.
Bryonna said: Bring them to church
Rhett said: Have a Family Night with them
Kenna said: Brushing our teeth and taking a bath (I guess hygiene is important)
Ry said: Being Reverent and listening to our teachers and don't spit
At the end, Ry volunteered to say the closing prayer. She prayed and thanked we could go to church today. She said she was thankful we could be with our teachers and bless us to be good so we don't get in trouble."
We then had brownies and cookies with ice cream for dessert.
It meant so much for the Checketts to invite us for Family Night. But it meant even more to be able to witness such innocence in the kiddos. It was so sweet to see how perceptive they were and how much they love the gospel.
When we got home, it was still early enough, I told the kiddos to hurry to bed and see if the leprechaun would come tonight before the day ended....and he did.
He left green applesauce for Kodes, and sprite, chex mix, and almonds for the other 3. (Thanks Annie for helping the leprechaun out)
Rhett almost caught the leprechaun. In this one, he did catch the leprechaun's shoelace as he escaped from the bottom.
In this one, he caught the little leprechaun, but then it tipped it over and escaped anyways. It did leave some green candies behind for the good effort!
It was an amazing day, and we're so fortunate to have great friends to share it with.
