As soon as we got to the last stop in SLC, we had to literally run to the Trax to make the train to Temple Square. We hurried and folded strollers and sat kids down, and made it just in time. We got to Temple Square, unloaded, and began our walk over to the Church's Museum. We wanted the kiddos to see the new interactive display of the scriptures.
When we got to the museum, we headed right to the display. The kids had so much fun. They had an ark you could "fish" from,
interactive computers,
wooden dolls and clothes,
tortilla toss, learning how to salsa dance, finding eggs in the chicken coop and cooking them in the kitchen,
and building a "temple". Of course this was the boys favorite thing to do.
This was me and Rhett in front of the Golden Plates display. He tried picking them up and couldn't because they were so heavy. He said he was so glad he didn't have to carry those to church every Sunday.
It was so hot in there and we were all starving, so after an hour we decided it was time to go. We walked back through Temple Square and over to City Creek. We sat in a food court area by the fountains to eat our packed picnic lunch and let the kids run around a bit. Jason was even able to leave work early and meet us. After lunch, we browsed around the variety of stores. I think some of these vendors think us Utahn's have a ton of money or something. I guess maybe some do, but certainly not us. They have Macey's, Nordstroms, Tiffanys, Coach...to name a few. Mom even had to show me and Crystal these $ 1800 sandals from Prada. Totally ugly and way tooo much money. We looked through a few more stores before we headed to the new Harmons. It was a very nice store and we ran into some of J's friends. After shopping for about 5 hours, we needed dinner. They had a huge food court and everyone picked something different. We only had about 45 min to hit the last store before Trax came. It was the highlight of the night...The Disney Store. The kids were in heaven and we lost track of time. Luckily, Aaron called us and said we had 4 minutes to run all the way back to the Trax before we had to wait another hour, and by then the mall would have closed. So yes, we all hauled our buns, bags, kids, and strollers to the Trax....and I did run. We made it with 1 min. to spare. When we loaded Trax, I started contracting. I seriously thought I was going to drop Kodee right there. We got to the Frontrunner with 5 min. to spare...Whew!
It was a very fun, laid back day. I felt so happy to spend some quality time with everyone in the fam. I just love our family and how well we all get along, even the cousins. J did get a little irritated thinking our kids ran around too much (That and his crown broke while eating a sandwich!) But I think for 8 hours of shopping in a mall and the only running around they did was on the boulders around the stores, I was very impressed they lasted all day. I can't wait to try the trip again...when I'm in better shape and not 8 months preggers!
What a fun trip. I've heard all about it and get so jealous but glad it was a fun time! You have the. cutest. kids! Can't wait for that Rhett time coming up soon!
