Pack Meeting

Tonight Rhett had a pack meeting. J usually takes Rhett to Scouts, but since he was working late, I took him to the church and dropped him off. When I got home, J had called me and asked if I got Rhett to his pack meeting. I said, "Yes. I dropped him off and came home." He said, "You are supposed to stay. They get their awards at pack meetings and he's getting one tonight." Well, I am a girl and don't know much about Scouts. So I hurried and got me and the girls ready and got back up to the church.
We got there just in time. As we were walking into the gym, his den was up in the front doing the salute.

Then they started to read everyone's names and the awards they were receiving. They asked for all the moms to come up and stand behind their sons. Rhett said, "My mom isn't here." Of course, he didn't see me walk in. So I surprised him when I went to the front. Each boy in his den had earned their Bobcat badge, and then they pinned a Bobcat pin to each of their moms (Kenna wouldn't leave my side.)

After all the awards were presented, they had all the kids participate in some games. They were about showing how difficult it is for people who have disabilities. So they learned Braille and how to use a wheelchair. Talk about an eye-opener. Rhett said he was lucky he doesn't have a disability.

I was so glad J had told me to get my butt up to the church. Rhett would have been the only scout without a parent present. I have to say, I am one proud Momma. And I now know what a Pack Meeting entails and will not show up late to another one again.

I finally got "pinned"!
