Easter

This post will be super long, but this past weekend was Easter and we had a whole weekned of fun. As uncomfortable I was, I did my best to do all the fun festivities for the kiddos. J had to work most the weekend, but he was able to be with us during the Easter activiites.
We started on Friday by making 50 jello eggs for the party today. Luckily they didn't take too long, and the kids loved helping by stirring the jello and water. Then we boiled our eggs to dye on Satruday.
On Saturday, I made my homemade chicken enchililadas which the kiddos loved. Right after dinner it was time to dye our eggs. We laid out the newspaper and let the kiddos go for it. Their favorite part was writing on the eggs with the wax crayon and seeing how it turned out. It was so much fun to see them enjoy something so simple.

After we dyed the eggs, it was time for the kiddos to head to bed before the Easter Bunny came. They all too quickly ran to bed knowing he wouldn't come if they were up!
Sunday morning we woke up and got ready. Thanks to my Mom and her fantastic talents for making the girls' Easter dresses. They looked absolutely amazing.

After church I asked the kids what they had learned in class. Ry started crying and said, "They killed Jesus." Man, tug my heart strings. She then went on to tell me how they put nails in his hands and made him bleed. She was very sad they would do such a thing. Then Rhett had to add about the thorns they smashed into his head. I was in awe they actually listened and learned about what Jesus had gone through. I added a little more about the ressurrection and how His body met up with His spirit 3 days later. Rhett was totally focused into learning about that and asked if that will happen to us. I told him yes, and he said that was cool. Man I have smart kids. I love being able to help teach them.
After our discussion, the kiddos went to look for their baskets. They were all smiles when they finally found them filled with goodies from the Easter Bunny!

As soon as J got home, we got everything ready for our BBQ and "egg-hunt" at Dawn and Jason's. Sadly, their grill broke. But luckily, Steven and Valerie came and brought theirs. While we prepared the "egg-hunt" the kids had to wait inside. Our "hunt" is mostly just spreading everything around on the grass and letting the kids find it all. We let the littlest kids go first. The older kids were so sad to have to wait, but when it was their turn, they got more than enough.
Preparing the "hunt"...

...while the kids sadly waited. I think Ry was even crying!

The littlest kids...Wyatt, Oaklee, Kenna, Tanner, Breklyn, and Jano.

Then everyone else joined in!

After the "hunt", it was finally time to eat and watch the Jazz game. We all sat around and talked and enjoyed the relaxation.
These bunny ears made it thru a lot of the kiddos...

...and came home with Ry. The girls had too much Easter and fell asleep as soon as we started driving.

I love Spring and Easter, but I am also glad to have this weekend over. We ended up being able to do so many fun things and I am so happy the kiddos had so much fun!

LOL Rhett is a little stud and growing and learning so much. He's a great son to be proud of. Where do I get me one of those? ha ha
