Discovery Night was supposed to be last Thursday, the 24th. But Utah got a freak Ice Storm. I honestly didn't think it was a big deal, until I heard Ry get off the bus and almost instantly I heard her crying. I ran outside to get her, and I slipped down the stairs. Everything was covered in ice! So the school cancelled all activities for the day, to prevent any accidents. Me and Rhett spent 2 hours breaking all the ice off our driveway, because usually if we don't, the ice never melts on our side of the street. But of course, the next day, the weather warmed up and everything melted anyways.
So they rescheduled Discovery Night for tonight. J wasn't able to go because he had to work late. So I bundled up all the kiddos and we got there early. We started by going to the cafeteria and enjoying free dinner from Papa Johns, along with water and cookies. After we ate, we went to the classrooms to play some games, and each kid got a free book.
We then went to Ry's class first to see her Discovery Night project. It was a penguin she decorated and wrote about. Then we played a few rounds of Sight Word Bingo.
After, we headed to Rhett's class. Everyone got blue ribbons for their projects, but he was so proud of himself. And I have to say, a lot of kids put so much effort into the projects.
We finally ended at the Book Fair because it was 50% off your total order. And the kiddos love books so much, we got a lot of books pretty cheap. It was such a fun night, and I'm so glad West Point has so many great programs in place for students and families.
